WELCOME TO VIDEOAKT INTERNATIONAL VIDEOART BIENNIAL

VIDEOAKT is a festival that takes place every two years in Barcelona - Spain and Berlin - Germany. This is the second edition of VIDEOAKT, that in his first edition left Berlin and moved to Barcelona, in this issue depart from Barcelona and then moved to Berlin.

VIDEOAKT is a platform for connectivity, creates networks between institutions and organizations supporting the video art development. Such connections start with invited institutions’ video art selections, with the presence of its curators and artists. In addition, a selection of artists are invited through an open call, selected by a jury of experts, promoting the diffusion of them works. The Amister Award sponsors three winners, donated by the Amistrer hotel of Barcelona, between the artists selected for the open call.

VIDEOAKT aims to promote and create cultural exchanges in the field of visual arts, offering the opportunity of connection between institutions, artists and cultural managers from around the world, putting emphasis on cultural diversity. We also provide a historical and current overview with local projects, and the contextualization of these, within a global sphere.

ABOUT THE AMISTER ART AWARD.

Is the award given to the artists who have participated in the open call competition by the art collection AMISTER of the AMISTER Hotel - Barcelona, consisting of the purchase of the winning videos, travel and stay at the hotel. Actually Amister colletion is the most important video art collection of Catalonia and the second in Spain. It is in a permanent exhibition in the Hotel and also comprises a video channel in the TV of each room where the countless video art collection of Sisita Soldevila, collector of the AMISTER collection, can be wiewed.
